"Dream Has No Sacrifice" is the new digital-only single from composer and New Amsterdam Records co-founder/co-artistic director William Brittelle. The track features the vocals of Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak, Flock of Dimes).
Brittelle and Wasner have collaborated in the past on "Spiritual America", an ongoing series of electro-acoustic orchestral art songs featuring works that Brittelle is writing for Wye Oak and orchestra. Pieces from the project have been performed with the Alabama Symphony, The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra's Liquid Music Series at the Walker Art Center, and The Baltimore Symphony.
On "Dream Has No Sacrifice", Brittelle is behind the composition, lyrics, and electronics; Wasner is the vocalist. The track also features Mark Dancigers (NOW Ensemble) on the acoustic guitar; Eleonore Oppenheim (Victoire) on the double bass; Michi Wiancko on the 5-string violin; Paul Wiancko on the cello; and screams by vocalist Jason Lekberg.
More about "Dream Has No Sacrifice" from Brittelle:
"'Dream Has No Sacrifice' is a digital single that depicts the pursuit of unadulterated emotional and artistic dreams in the face of overwhelming complications and challenges. In other words, it's about my life and the way it feels to attempt to balance fringe art, family, marriage, health, and spirituality in a city that seems bent on producing anxiety at every turn. In the piece, I attempt to widen my musical bookends, allowing death metal screams, programmed R & B drums, string orchestra (running the gamut from thorny/virtuosic to bucolic), and pop vocals to all co-exist, though in a contentious environment. This piece marks my fourth for vocalist Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak, Flock of Dimes), a truly magical singer who was able to be the voice of purity throughout the piece."

Very complex neo-classical music. This has lots of layers to it, and sounds at times discordant, but I like it more with each listen. This band requires some patience, but I think you get rewarded for that patience. Found in Ed Buckley's collection. Roy Meerkamper
